Sydney By Sail is fully accredited with International Yacht Training Worldwide. We are the exclusive provider of IYT courses in Sydney

IYT Worldwide was started in 2002 with the purposes of standardising yacht training across the globe. IYT Worldwide offers an entire range of recreational courses from entry level sailing up to International Bareboat Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore. No other organisation offers such a diverse range of nautical training or is as internationally accepted as IYT Worldwide

- Our courses begin with the Introduction to Yachting which covers the basics of sailing.

- Next is the International Crew Certificate which builds your skills further and goes into greater depth of knowledge.

- To follow this you could take part in the Night Sail, an evening of practical experience to help you gain a better understanding of yacht handling at night

- The Sydney Harbour Bareboat Course is a great way for you to open the door to Bareboat chartering with Sydney By Sail during daylight hours

- The International Crew Package guides you through all of the above courses in a value for money package that you can complete any time within 6 months of starting.

- To follow take part in the VHF radio operator's certificate which is a short bolt-on course great for increasing your depth of knowledge.

- After that is the International Skipper Course whereby you take control of your own yacht within an area such as Sydney Harbour. This includes aspects of the International Watchkeeper Certificate/Flotilla Certificate, the International Bareboat Skipper Certificate and the International Certificate of Competence

- The International Certificate of Competence assessment is a full day course and enables you to gain the ICC subject to completing previous levels of experience.

- Or consider the International Skipper Package which takes you from the beginning to a seasoned skipper (taking part in all of the above courses).

- Finally the International Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate is a five day, five night liveaboard course

Our Introduction to Yachting and International Crew courses are conducted aboard our Hunter 33 yachts, perfect for up to 5 students and the Instructor. For our Sydney Harbour Bareboat Charter course we also use our new Hunter 33 yachts. These yachts are also available for bareboat or skippered charter.

For our International Skipper and International Yachtmaster Coastal Courses, lessons are conducted on our Hunter 38 or Hunter 39 which comfortably cater for five students and up to two instructors for our sailing passages and offshore training.

Our fully licensed sailing instructors are highly experienced yachtsmen. Many have done the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, various long distance ocean crossings and international sailing events. All instructors are personally selected by Olympian Matt Hayes for their communication skills, patience, knowledge and sailing ability. Sail training courses run all year round on weekends and midweek. Two complementary three hour social races, conducted on the third Saturday of each month are also included. All students are entitled to discounts on further sailing courses, charters and packages.

Introduction to Sailing Course - for the beginner sailor who wants to start from scratch

International Crew Course - for the slightly experienced with approximately 10 days of sailing time. This course is also a minimum requirement for bareboat charter

Night Sail - - for those who wish to practise sailing techniques at night

Sydney Harbour Bareboat Charter Course - The Essential Guide to chartering a Sydney By Sail yacht on Sydney Harbour. Learn operating procedures, troubleshooting, design and layout, sail trimming and passage planning

International Crew Package - This very popular package is the best value for money way to go from a beginner to an International Crew member while gaining the necessary experience

VHF Radio Operators Certificate - Short course designed to give all the need to know information on operating a VHF Radio

International Skipper Course - Skipper Course for the serious sailor who wants to cruise short distances up and down the coast and wants the confidence to sail within enclosed waters in most conditions

International Certificate of Competence Assessment - A full day for students to gain the widely recognised ICC enabling students to charter yachts overseas

International Skipper Package - Another value for money Package designed for those who want to start from the beginning and become a proficient skipper.

International Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate - For those who want to further their experience and get some offshore miles under their belts
